Family Carers Ireland

Heart of Gold

About us

Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but it can also be difficult, frightening and isolating. It shouldn’t be. Family Carers Ireland want carers to know they have the support they need to care safely, to make it less of a battle and to know they are not alone.

Over 500,000 people care for loved ones at home with additional care needs. This can range from a child born with a disability to an older person with dementia. As a charity, we ask the carer how they are, and provide free supports and services in our efforts to ensure no one has to care alone.

Sign up for our Run 80k in March Challenge

For the month of March, we are asking you to run or jog 80km. The challenge starts on the 1st March and you have the entire month to clock up your 80km, which works out at just over 2km per day! Family carers provide unpaid care in the home for loved ones such as children or adults with additional needs, physical or intellectual disabilities, frail older people, those with palliative care needs or those living with chronic illnesses, mental health challenges or

Please help us to be there for family carers who need us most.

We believe no one should have to care alone.
